In November 2010, TSP Environmental was awarded a contract to redevelop the Argo Headrace in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The City of Ann Arbor developed this design-build contract as a way to provide additional recreational opportunities to Ann Arbor area residents as well as to complete repairs to the Headrace area required by the State of Michigan.
TSP Environmental will act as the general contractor on this project as well as perform a majority of the site work using our own people and equipment. We will be supported in this effort by Beckett & Raeder, an Ann Arbor based engineering and consulting firm, and Recreational Engineering and Planning, a Colorado based design company that specializes in recreational water features.
Work began in July 2011 with site dewatering and continues through August with clearing excessive vegetation. Additional work is expected to continue throughout the summer with a goal to meet the City's deadline of having all major work completed by November.
Major tasks still to be performed include:
- Re-grading and balancing the site.
- Placing limestone to form pools for use as whitewater features.
- Installing bridges and abutments.
