In the fall of 2010, TSP Environmental was awarded a contract to perform repairs to the Lansing River Trail near the General Motors facility in Lansing, Michigan. Constant erosion by the Lansing River had eaten away at the existing sea wall causing it to fail along a 200 foot stretch of river directly south of the GM plant. The sea wall failure had begun to undermine the soil supporting the asphalt paved trail creating a risk to the safety of residents who use the trail for recreation.
TSP was hired to repair the sea wall and restore the site to a condition where the City could repair the damaged asphalt along the Lansing River. TSP served as a general contractor and hired American Marine SC to replace the failed sea wall. We then brought in our own people and equipment to backfill and compact the area where soil had been carried away by the river in order to provide a solid foundation for the City's paver to repair the asphalt trail. Finally, our staff built hand rails along the river front to improve safety along the trail.
The project was completed in August 2011 on budget and within the timeframe required by the City of Lansing.
