TSP Environmental provides inspection services for owners and operators of underground storage tanks (USTs).

According to regulations in most states, USTs are required to take certain steps to ensure that they are properly functional and structurally sound. For older steel tanks, the primary requirements are focused on ensuring that the tank has not suffered from corrosion to the point where the tank wall has failed or is in danger of failing. Tank linings and cathodic protection systems provide the structural elements necessary to minimize corrosion. Periodic inspections remain necessary, however, to ensure that these systems are providing the desired results.

TSP provides inspection services for owners of lined steel tanks. Our staff includes a Certified Underground Storage Tank Professional (CP) and registered Professional Engineer who has years of experience in performing UST inspections. We have, on hand, the equipment necessary to perform tank wall and lining inspections including ultrasonic thickness (UT) gauging, barcol hardness testing, and holiday (“spark”) testing. Our UT technicians are certified to at least Level 1 of the SNT-TC-1A standard published by the American Society of Nondestructive Testing and have tested numerous tanks in both UST and AST settings.

In addition to performing the actual inspection, TSP also offers tank cleaning services. Tank cleaning is a necessary part of the inspection process because residual product and sludge are known to degrade the quality of test results. TSP's field staff is trained in confined space entry and fully equipped with explosion proof equipment, enabling our team to readily begin preparing gasoline and other types of UST for inspection.
